The ritual surrounding the passing of the Queen and subsequent official funeral had been methodically planned for decades.
Codenamed ‘Operation London Bridge’, it featured a large document outlining every possible outcome of her death.
And, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opted to leave the Royal Family at the start of 2020, they, too, had planned for the somber occasion.
According to a royal book, the pair had always planned to see the Queen on her deathbed jointly.
However, when the Queen di:ed unexpectedly at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8, 2022, only Harry traveled to be with his family.
Although he and Meghan were already in the UK for charity events, the Duchess of Sussex did not travel to Scotland.
This was not always the objective. A representative for the Sussexes stated at the time that the couple would travel to see the Queen together, but Meghan was later removed owing to an unclear ‘changing of plans’.
