Chris Hemsworth has explained why he regrets taking a selfie with Billie Eilish, saying they will “never be friends”.
Hemsworth may play the all-powerful Thor on the big screen, but at the 2024 Oscars, he found himself totally humbled after a brief encounter with superstar Billie Eilish.
The Marvel actor confessed that snapping a quick selfie with the 9-time Grammy winner may have ruined his shot at becoming actual friends with her.
“I got a photograph with Billie Eilish at the Oscars and I remember thinking, ‘Ah, don’t do it. Don’t do it’ and I was like ‘Nah, my kids are gonna love this,’” Hemsworth shared during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night.
Hemsworth was attending the 2024 Academy Awards with wife Elsa Pataky when he ran into Eilish and made a split-second decision to ask for a photo — for the kids, of course.
But he instantly knew it was a mistake.
“The moment I took it (the photo), I was like, ‘I went from work colleague to now like a fan.’ We will never be friends, never be best friends,” Hemsworth joked to Colbert during the show’s popular “Colbert Questionert” segment.
The selfie in question features Eilish sandwiched between Hemsworth and Pataky inside the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on March 10, 2024.
Hemsworth kept it cool in a black suit with an unbuttoned white shirt, while Pataky stunned in a white cut-out gown bedazzled in sparkle.
